Post-Covid Syndrome: what to do about it?
Tired for months after contracting the Corona virus? It is the most well-known complaint, even if you only had mild symptoms while being sick. The second complaint is shortness of breath, which is logical given the damage the virus does to the lungs. Concentration problems and other cognitive problems also occur after an infection.
But what can you do about it?
And what can you do to make it less bothersome and damaging, if you ever do contract Covid-19? Below are 3 pillars from a naturopath point of view that may contribute to prevention of and recovery after damage done by the Corona virus.
1. Take supplements like vitamin C and vitamin D
Vitamin C helps against fatigue and supports the immune system. It is also good for your concentration. Vitamin D is good for the functioning of the muscles and also has a positive effect on the immune system. Taking NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine) temporarily can also be good for the recovery of your lungs.
2. Do breathing exercises or do endurance sports
This is to help your lungs regain their optimal function and restore your energy levels. Any endurance sport at your level is recommended, but you can also do the breathing exercises below with me. Click here for my 10 minute video where we will do a hypercapnia breathing exercise together:
3. Make sure you have good deep nights of sleep
Recovery and especially lung recovery takes place when one goes to sleep at the same hours every day and wakes up again around the same time. If you experience problems with this, read my article below full of practical tips:
